Enjoy the snow and sun in Schilthorn

Schilthorn is another ski resort from the Jungfrau area (one of my favorites). It may not seem like the most beginner-friendly resort out there but there actually are some very nice blue runs as well ;)

Don't be scared off by the "inferno run" at the top of the mountain ;) it's a bit steep at the beginning but there is no hurry. Also the Piz Gloria on top has a nice revolving restaurant where we can enjoy the views and a nice lunch (i tend to get sick from the revolving thingy there but the views are totally worth it!).
The downside of the whole resort is that the installations are not as smoothly connected as in other resorts, so we will have to be a little careful about sticking together. Another downside is the sometimes longish wait at the gondola. BUT, the upside is that it's an amazing resort with amazing views and great off-pistes (for those interested).
I am looking forward to seeing many of you!

Hello Cristina, I am new to MeetUp. I would like to join you tomorrow.... We are two and would come to Schilthorn by car. As I see that other two guys are coming by car, and I do not have the phone number of any of you, please could we set up a meeting point?

Hey, where exactly are we meeting in the Bern station? It's a pretty big place. :-)

Looking forward to a sunny ski day!

The "meeting point" ("Treffpunkt"). Basically it's in the main hall under the timetable ;)

Got my skis this weekend, but not sure if i'll join on this, to start of with a black slope doesn't seem like the best idea for me. So i probably join some meetups further along in the season. Unless there are more not so advanced skiers joining ;)

Will there already be enough snow to go off-pistes safely? I'm not so sure about that. I don't wanna ruin my new board on the first run. ;)

Last weekend there was some really nice off-piste in Kleine Scheidegg (considering it's november). I also have my doubts about Schilthorn but i would still go even if i'll stay on the slope the whole day. Especially if the weather is good.

Schilthorn is a HUGE one on my to-do-list... just this saturday I have friends over, I have German Tuition and a X-mas party to attend.....Hopefully an other time. Have fun!

Sorry, I'm out of the country. I've skied Schilthorn the last 2 seasons and was disappointed both times. Late in season 2012 and the best snow was at the very top which has about 200 meters of a black piste and the rest wide, red/blue, and boring. Earlier in the season 2013, snow great everywhere but the Inferno race was going on and the very top closed. Couldn't ski down from the upper part due to the race blocking the only piste. Lower down though it was good skiing.

Hey, Cristina, which of the following two: Schilthorn vs Kleine Scheidegg do you think has the most/longest runs? Since you seem to be more familiar with them and I haven't been to Schilthorn....also, do you know how many lifts are open in Schilthorn vs Kleine Scheidegg around early December? Or recommend a good website listing all the open lifts in all resorts to take a look? Thx!

I guess i have to answer with "it depends". The longest runs in both resorts are about the same length - with the difference that in schilthorn it's black while in grindelwald you have more blue and red. As for the length of the runs in general i would say grindelwald has more better and longer slopes (it's also my favorite). You can check the link i posted in the description of the event for more infos about open lifts. In pre-season it really depends on the snow conditions.
