"Lessons Learned Training Object Detection Models on Satellite Imagery"
Roger Fong, Picterra

Satellite imagery provides a wealth of visual information but without the proper tools, it can be daunting to understand. Our mission at Picterra is to provide deep learning empowered tools that are capable of analyzing these images and providing valuable information to our customers. In this talk, we will focus on the challenges of object detection from satellite imagery and our approach to the problem.

"Time-series forecast in the energy sector with automated machine learning" Stefano Casasso, Predictive Layer

Time series forecasting using machine learning (ML) presents additional challenges compared to other "static" ML tasks. From data cleaning to feature engineering, from model building to model validation: in each of these steps the time component has to be handled with care in order to avoid overfitting and bias. In this presentation, all these tasks are discussed using "real world" examples taken from the energy sector, namely electricity consumption/production. Predictive Layer (PL) is a company based in Rolle (Switzerland) which has built its business model around times series forecasting. PL is currently active in the sector of energy, finance, retail, transport and supply chain optimization.

"When AI meets floorings"
Wiktor Bourée, Technis

When it comes to superfast and multifactorial decision making, AI is an amazing tool that made a shattering entrance in the business world. At Technis, we developed an AI for, among other uses, recognition of patterns on a smart floor. Because of several components constantly nourishing it such as machine learning or manual labeling, it allows us to make more and more precise, quick and adaptable decisions to face a range of complex situations. Situations so full of different parameters that it couldn’t even be considered by a human.
