Maybe the hype is running ahead of the reality of what business are doing on the ground. But this definitely IS an area you need to think about as a leader in technology. We will be welcoming some experts in Big Data, Data Science and Business Intelligence - and avoiding salesy stuff and the hot air/BS that goes with that.
Venue: Tank Streak Labs. This is a really awesome venue (we were there on the debugging-diversity night) and its very centrally located.
We have 3 speakers whose backgrounds are varied, with a tech founder, a national figure in big data, and a leader in data at a large online retailer.
After some socializing, there will be talks, then a panel discussion involving the audience, then a bit more food and beer.
We will all need to head off home (or to the pub next door) at 8:30pm rather than 930 on this night....just in case you want to call your chauffeur in advance :)
