Jane Cockburn - Designing for health - what makes it special?

In this session, Jane will share the similarities and differences she has experienced when working for our public health system and their suppliers compared to other industries. Based on real experiences these insights will help you to work with an industry that often is seen as special and different.

Jane Cockburn is a leading facilitator and coach in design thinking practices. As the founder of Kairos Now (, Jane helps both public and private health organisations to embrace transformational change by building design-thinking capability within the organisation. She achieves this through the use of tools that reframe problems and strategic questions, identify opportunities and embed innovation practices within the business. Jane draws upon her strong corporate experience with over 30 years working in the health industry including senior product and technical roles at Cochlear and Johnson & Johnson. Since establishing Kairos Now, Jane has worked with organisations including Health Education Training Institute (HETI), Agency for Clinical Innovation (ACI), SNSW and MNC LHDs, Coca-Cola Amatil, Selleys, Suncorp, Selleys, NRMA, Roche and Telstra helping them to reimagine how they do business. Jane also works closely with UTS Design Innovation Research Centre as an Industry Fellow where she works with the UTS team to build capability in Design Thinking.
