Rating is Extreme this is a hard training bush walk!

There will be a maximum number of 20 on this meetup with donations to Oxfam to join us. We need to raise $3000 as a team so your donations on the day will be greatly appreciated. Sydney Explorers who are committed to the Oxfam Trail-walk challenge will take priority of normal members.

You will need to be prepared and fit to join this meetup, bring fast walking clothing/shoes, at least 2L water but can collect along the way, food and snacks need to be nutritional and easy to eat on the go! Remember this is a rough track, remote and injuries can be a problem to get access to medical services, I will bring a basic medical kit but you need to be aware how remote and rough this section is.

Mt Kuringai to Bobbin Head:

There is a little suburban street walking before re-entering Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park and descending to the picturesque Apple Tree Bay on the shores of Cowan Creek. The trail then travels up and over the ridge and into the historic picnic grounds of Bobbin Head, situated in Australia’s second oldest national park, Ku-ring-gai Chase.

Bobbing Head to St Ives showground: Heading south through Bobbin Head picnic grounds, the trail crosses a suspension footbridge and mangrove boardwalk as it enters the challenging Gibberagong Track. After a few kilometres alongside Cockle Creek, a short but steep climb takes you up to the suburb of North Turramurra where a walk through the streets will take you back into the National Park through the toll gates. The trail then visits the historic Sphinx War Memorial on the way back down to Cowan Creek before climbing up to briefly touch suburbia on the way to the spectacular Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Gardens and, finally, St Ives Showground.

St Ives Showground to Macfarlane Reserve: Crossing busy Mona Vale Rd and entering Garigal National Park, the trail begins to follow the Harbour to Hawkesbury Walking Track. A series of interconnecting fire trails offer relief from the more technical walking tracks. This will please the majority of teams who will be walking this section at night. At the rock platforms known as The Cascades, the trail veers left to enter suburban Davidson
