The aim of the website is to provide the community with an online medium of providing information about local events that may be of interest to the latino and the wider Australian community.

This page [ see below] was created by the former organiser Mr Jay Lynn who served this organisation for 5 years .I still consult with him on relevant issues to the meetup.

It would have been written about 4years ago .. I am keeping it here for historical significance .. it's the good work of Jay that gradually built up this meetup .
Now The meetup is experiencing a new era of many local Spanish Conversation Meetups that operate in Newtown, Glebe , potts point, The Northshore ,The Spanish Club and the Art House . and now we have a spanish Ensemble choir that you can join..

[ Organiser from 31st March 2008]

The Following information was written by Former Organiser Jay Lynn around June 2005

Hello all and a special welcome to our new members. it seems we are getting 3 - 4 members a week, which is a really good sign.

and a special hello also to those who haven't been back to attend our meet-ups for some time.

lately, we have been consistent in having about 20 people attend our meet-ups. the people who attend our meet-ups are invariably of different proficiencies - from absolute beginners to native speakers from spain and south america. in my view, the group had been successful in creating a relaxed and fun environment where everyone can improve their vocab, belt out a few scripted lines, practice listening to a wide range of accents, learn about culture and travel, explore and resolve syntax and grammatical predicaments, find creative ways of combining drinking games with the conjugation of irregular verbs, or otherwise, indulge in spontaneous conversations covering a wide range of topics.

so, if you're a new member and you don't quite know what to expect, please come down some time and join us - it's a lot of fun! and to those who haven't been back in a while, the group has changed quite remarkably from the time when we used to get only 3 - 4 persons at our meet-ups. it'll be good to see you again.

we have been to a number of venues since i've been a member. in the old days, we used to meet at a cafe called aristotle at oxford st. then we momentarily moved to bar darlo, bill and tony's, and took residence at denise winters restaurant for a few months. one of our more successful venues has been la cita at king st wharf. the venue boasts a splendid view of darling harbour, plays latin music, and even serves a number of latin beers. but in 2006, spanish meet-up members have put in a request for a more quiet venue, so we're going to try a few restaurants in sydney. still, if anyone knows of other suitable venues, i would be happy to run a poll to gauge the level of interest members might have in having the meet-up there. i'm also happy to receive suggestions on how we can improve our meet-ups.

you can contact me via the meet-up website, or email me directly on

hope to see you at our next meet-up.

kind regards.
