Following last month's meetup on AI we are delighted to welcome two speakers:
1. Carlos Garcia Hervas from Airbus to give an introduction to AI, ML and Deep Learning.
Carlos is a senior AOCS/GNC Engineer (Where AOCS => Attitude and Orbit Control System; GNC=> Guidance Navigation and Control) working for Airbus Defence & Space UK. He studied a Double Diploma Degree in Aerospace and Control Engineering at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Spain) and ISAE –SUPAERO, Toulouse, France. He did his final year thesis on autopilot for military aircraft within THALES Avionics and joined Airbus in 2014. He started working in the Advanced Studies team, where he was involved in future GNC technologies for control and estimation. Later on he joined the team in charge of designing, tuning and validating the AOCS/GNC algorithms for Solar Orbiter and JUICE missions.
Carlos is also a self-taught data-scientist and passionate about Deep Learning which enabled him to be currently leading the research on Deep Learning technologies applied to spacecraft GNC and Failure Detection Isolation and Recovery subsystems.
His presentation is a good starting point for people that want to know more about what Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Deep Learning are. What have they achieved? What type of algorithms and tasks they can do for us? Another objective of the presentation is to de-mystify Deep Learning and explain some very basic mathematical concepts behind! It ain’t magic after all!
2. Gareth Edwards and Rapid
Rapid is software to innovate. Fast. It's an open source drag and drop application development platform that makes it quick and easy to create and integrate responsive desktop applications, offline mobile applications, forms, and APIs. Find out more at www.rapid-is.co.uk
Gareth is the director of Rapid Information Systems, the company behind the Rapid application platform. After working in social housing for many years he shared the frustrations of many local authorities of the lack of flexible, open, and decently-priced tools to help manage the many responsibilities of a social landlord. To answer this challenge the Rapid application platform was developed after four years of hard work with the London Borough of Camden. Since Rapid was released for the general public in 2017, Gareth has enjoyed seeing its user base grow, and the long list of exciting applications that have been created with it, and shared with the community.
There are parking spaces on the premises and it's only 5 minutes walk from Stevenage Train Station. We will provide free pizza & beer on the event. Tonight's event is kindly being sponsored by Rapid.
Is your company able to support the work of SyncHerts and sponsor the food and drink at a future event? If so, please get in touch [masked] .
