About Systema

The overarching focus is on responding to a threat spontaneously with natural, instinctive movement which strengthens and restores the body, clarifies the mind, and provides a framework for healthy, safe, life-long activity.  Individual classes are fast-paced and varied, ranging in subject from striking mechanics, grappling and ground fighting, evasive movement, weapon defense, sparring, and dealing with multiple attackers to women's self defense and street safety.

    In this class, we learned how to let our upright, aligned body structure relax completely, letting the body weight sink. As stated below, we had ¨opponents¨ to use this in an application for feedback. Also, there was punching, on the body, but with instruction on how to take or accept body blows by calming the mind. The more we do this, the more I look forward to it. If you want a good class with very good instructors to augment your martial arts study, I recommend this one. Classes meet twice a month and are very affordable.

    We studied how to use your and your opponent's weight and structure to take them down in a most effortless way. And all of this in a limited space area (bar) without looking like its a fight but more like an accident.
    We finished off with punching practice where you learn how to take and place punches in the most effective way.
    Very good session overall.
