Shred the GNAR at Revelstoke Mountain Resort!! Dec 6th -13th 2016

  • to

  • Revelstoke Mountain Resort

  • Shred the GNAR at Revelstoke Mountain Resort this coming December 2016!!

As well as hunting down some serious powder bowls, slack-country pow and world-renowned glades, we will also be spending some time taking turns filming the team ripping some gnarly sh*t at some of Revy's epic natural features.

This adventure is being organized and guided by JuLeS who lived in Revelstoke for the entire 2012/13 winter season, making him well acquainted with Revelstoke's best terrain and offerings.

Cost:  estimated cost at $1600 per person for the 8 day trip.  This includes return-trip flight, accommodations in suites with kitchens, 5 lift tickets for RMR, vehicle rentals, gas and a $20 meetup fee for the organizer.

I will require a non-refundable deposit by July 31st to confirm your spot.  Details will be discussed at the information session May 29th.

RSVP limit is 15 participants.  If the event is full and you are still interested in attending, please add yourself to the waitlist and we can discuss details further in August.

On May 29th, there is an information session pub/dinner night where further details will be discussed and your questions can be answered.   Attendance is highly advisable if you RSVP YES or are on the Waitlist.

Please answer all RSVP questions! The questions may not show up if you RSVP from a mobile phone, so please RSVP from a computer if you need to.

Check out some snowboard tricks you can work on with nothing but the board and some carpet. I'm doing this stuff to get back into it.

As requested, here's a list of the key items that I will have in my compact backpack (backpack must have a chest strap) that I wear always while riding at Revy...

    - GoPro Hero4
    - a Platypus Softbottle for water (Google image it)
    - ziplock bag with mixed nuts
    - small can of smoked herring or sardines
    - extra pack of hand warmers
    - Fox 40 whistle
    - Pietzl headlamp with strobe option
    - thermal blanket (foil blanket available at dollar stores that folds into the size of a deck of cards)
    - Altoids in case I find a gnome

Also, here are some extra items I recommend be packed in your main travel gear (not required, but I highly recommend):

    - portable boot heaters/dryers
    - extra gloves
    - extra goggle lenses (flat-light lenses are essential)
    - a small portable umbrella or a light cheap poncho
    - onesie, ugly or not
    - swim gear and flip flops for hot tub and hot spring
    - ugly/bright retro ski clothing
    - anything GNAR-ly

If you have any questions, feel free to text me or message me!

Absolutely. It shouldn't get cold enough there to have issues with the hose freezing.

Sorry if im jumping the gun here, whats the plan for meeting up and checking in for our flights etc? Also how heavy is everyone packing? Like a carry on and a snowboard bag to check-in?

    • JuLeS

I'm packing a snowboard bag and a carry-on. We're going to meet inside at the gate before boarding (after checking in and security).

From RMR: "The snow is still accumulating on the upper mountain, with a season total of 426cm and a base depth of 131cm at the Ripper snow plot (1,950 metres altitude). Get stoked for Opening Day because it's looking like a powder weekend, with snow forecast to start Friday and continue through Saturday!"

Also, if you have a COSTCO membership, bring your card... A few of us are bringing cards, I'm just making sure everyone that has one does, as that will be our first/main grocery stop for the week as soon as we land in Kelowna. Those who don't have cards, we will sort out arrangements for your purchases at that time.

    • Gillian

      I'll bring mine

From REVELSTOKE MOUNTAIN RESORT posted Nov 24th: We've officially received the most snow in Canada at our Ripper weather plot (according to SnowSeekers.ca), with almost 4 metres of snowfall and a 1.1 metre base!

    2 · November 24

  • JuLeS

A recent quote from RMR Nov 8th:

"Based on our historical records, this is the most pre-season snow we've ever had by this time of year. Long-range weather forecasts are looking good for BC, so all the factors are aligning for another amazing winter of powder skiing in Revelstoke."

***UPDATED AUG 1st 2016 INFO: I worked out the numbers and we are able to keep the cost the same per person for 13 people for the trip, by cancelling the smallest suite and filling the other two suites, and changing one of the three mini-vans to a car. As of today, 13 people have paid their deposit so we are good to go. The bed/room choices will be decided by order of full payment received. 4 of 13 people have already paid in full.

Reminder: $300 deposit is due in 10 days (July 31st) for those who haven't paid it yet. Soon I'll be posting some training events for the Fall to start preparing. We're only four and a half months away from the trip!!

So... I just signed up for riding classes to get my M2 and might be buying a motorcycle this summer. After much agonizing and deliberating, I've decided I should not stretch my finances too thin. Probably won't have money after all my expenses for this so I'm changing my RSVP for the event. ='( Very sad I won't be there with all you awesome people. Hope you all have an amazing time ripping the shit out of the mountain!
