Talks Java Enterprise Comparison : TomEE, Spring Boot, Quarkus Comparing performance of Java Frameworks Spring Boot and Jakarta EE/Java EE have been the frameworks of choice to develop services in Enterprise Java. Recently, a new player jumped in, Quarkus. Made by Red Hat, It uses a short list of common libraries, including Microprofile. It's tailored for GraalVM & OpenJDK HotSpot and promises exceptional startup performance. The presentation will show the same application developed on the 3 platforms. It will feature Apache TomEE, Spring Boot and Quarkus to highlight the main differences between them regarding development, deployment and performance. Lightweight Enterprise Java with MicroProfile I laugh at people that tell me that Java is slow, heavyweight and cumbersome. Maybe it was true when we had EJB2. I will prove to you that we can develop Enterprise Applications with just a few lines of code that can run in a Raspberry PI. If it runs in a PI, I think we can safely say it would run anywhere! To be able to do it, I’m going to use a new platform called Microprofile. Microprofile optimizes Enterprise Java for a Microservices Architecture and delivers application portability across multiple runtimes. You can use a subset of the Java specifications to develop Microprofile applications, with JAX-RS, CDI, and JSON-P and later evolve it with Config, OpenAPI, Metrics, Tracing and JWTs. Join me for this live coding session and help me spread the word that Java is actually great for the Enterprise. About the speakers Bruno Baptista, Is a well versed Java and Open Source technology developer and Tech Lead Engineer at Talkdesk. With over 10 years as an enterprise level engineer, is an Apache TomEE contributor, Microprofile.io committer, JUG organizer in Coimbra, co-founder of Cork JUG in Ireland and co-founder and organizer of the JNation.pt conference. Roberto Cortez Passionate Java Developer and Java Champion with more than 10 years of experience. He is involved within the Open Source Community to help other individuals spread the knowledge about Java technologies. He is a regular speaker at conferences like JavaOne, Devoxx, JFokus, and others, leads the Coimbra JUG, JNation conference and enjoys writing blog posts.

- System Testing with Docker & API Test Automation
Dear Members, We are pleased to announce the next Meetup in Leiria focused on System Testing with Docker and API Test Automation, The event is following the ToC Model organized by PSTQB, ISTQB representation in Portugal, event detail is described below. The event is organized in partnership with La Redoute and TICE.Leiria association. Pay attention to inscription modalities being specific to this event, free for PSTQB associates, else 10€, see below, Taking place at Nerlei in Leiria from 18h30 to 20h30, Hoping to see you there! Talk #1 - API Test Automation In our days, it’s almost impossible to find a modern application that doesn’t provide or consumes an API in the form of a web service. With SOA or microservices, between layers or between server and client, internal or external services, SOAP or REST, IoT or web apps, no matter what, web service APIs are everywhere. Designed to allow a programmatic interaction between systems, APIs also need to be tested, and they are one of the first and natural candidates for test automation. In this session, we will go through 3 different tools to demonstrate how to do API Test Automation applying also different testing techniques (like Data-Driven Testing, Keyword-Driven Testing or Behaviour-Driven Testing). - Meeting the Challenge of RF with MMWare for 5G (IEEE COMSOC Webinar)
Dear members, Its my pleasure to annouce that Professor Rafael Caldeirinha from Polytechnic of Leiria will be the speaker in the IEEE COMSOC WEBINAR MEETING THE CHALLENGES OF RF WITH MMWAVE FOR 5G Millimeter wave (mmWave) frequencies in combination with small Radio Frequency (RF) coverage look to be key technologies for 5G networks. However, mmWave spectrum comes with high path losses and the solution of small RF coverage to reduce signal congestion suffers from distortions of the transmitted signals. This webinar will look at how measurements of RF front ends designed for mmWave can help address whether commercial-off-the-shelf chip-based RF front end technology is ready to be used for 5G networks. The webminar will take place next Tuesday, 30 October 2018, at 19:00. Registration and further information about the event: https://www.comsoc.org/webinars/meeting-challenges-rf-mmwave-5g
