• HTTP/2 and Asynchronous APIs

    Zend R&D HQ

HTTP/2 (H2) is coming, and along with it a whole new way of communicating over the web. Connection re-use, prioritization, multiplexing, and server push are just some of the features in H2. In this talk, Davey Shafik will introduce us to the HTTP/2 protocol, and explain how we can use asynchronous requests now with HTTP/1.x. We will also see what asychronous requests and H2 mean for our API and clients in the future. Davey has over 15 years of experience in PHP and related technologies and is Developer Evangelist at Akamai. Davey has also written three books, numerous articles, and spoken at conferences all over the world. He is best known for his books, the Zend PHP Certification Study Guide and PHP Master: Write Cutting Edge Code, and as the originator of PHP Archive (PHAR) for PHP 5.3. Davey also co-organizes the Prompt initiative (http://mhprompt.org (http://mhprompt.org/)), dedicated to lifting the stigma surrounding mental health discussions, and has worked with PHPWomen since its inception. Schedule: 18:00 : mingling and grub 18:15 - 19:15 : HTTP/2 and Asynchronous APIs (video call)

  • Developing with PHP Frameworks - An Intro to Symfony and Laravel

Every big PHP survey conducted in the past year (SitePoint (http://www.sitepoint.com/best-php-framework-2015-sitepoint-survey-results/)) points to the same undeniable fact - Laravel and Symfony are the top 2 most popular frameworks among PHP developers! In this meetup we're going to try and figure out why. Session 1: Introducing Laravel Speaker: Pablo Chiapetti, Laravel developer, co-organizer of the Buenos Aires Laravel meetup Abstract: Laravel is a modern PHP framework which defines itself as 'beautiful and simple'. Too much, you think? I will show you why I believe this is true and what I've learned building web applications with Laravel so far. This talk will be introductory to the framework and its ecosystem, and spoken in English. Session 2: Build Web Apps Like an Inhuman with Symfony Speaker: Almog Baku, entrepreneur, co-founder and CTO at Rimoto Software, Symfony developer, co-organizer of the Symfony Israel meetup Abstract: Symfony is a PHP framework which is considered one of the leading frameworks in the PHP world. In this session, we'll introduce you to Symfony and discuss its features, qualities, and how to work with it (yeha! this mean coding time). Agenda: 1) Who are you? 2) What is Symfony? 3) Why do we need it? 4) What can we do with Symfony? 5) Let's do it! (Building a simple blog) Itinerary: • 17:30 - 18:00 Food + mingling • 18:00 - 18:45 Session 1 • 19:00 - 19:45 Session 2

  • Developing Modern Web and Mobile Applications

    Zend R&D HQ

Session 1: Creating and Evolving REST-Based API Layers Speaker: Yonni Mendes, Behalf (https://www.behalf.com/) Abstract: Apigility approaches the problem of standard RESTful API creation with a different tone: envelop functionality and extend it, rather than grow the API from it. In this session we take a look at what options apigility offers us to do so and what I learned from using it in the wild. Session 2: Client-side Implementation of Web Services Consumption Speakers: Nader Safadi and Roy Segall, Gizra (http://www.gizra.com/) Abstract: The "conscious uncoupling" of front-end and back-end is an increasingly popular site architecture, This session will delve into the motivations and benefits of a decoupled (aka "headless") architecture. Itinerary: • 17:30 Food + mingling • 18:00 -18:45 Session 1 • 19:00 - 19:45 Session 2
