Hydroponics is a method growing plants using mineral nutrient solutions in water, without soil. It not only provides a fun and interesting way to grow food, but it's fast and takes less water than a regular garden! Don't believe us? Come to the class and learn one way to start growing your own adventure! We'll go over the basic principles behind hydroponics as well as do some on site building and assembly.
Come with an open mind and leave with no soil under your finger nails! This class is being held on private property, so make sure to park off the street and don't block the neighbor's driveways. A suggested donation of $5 is asked to help cover instructor costs. Bring a camera to take as many pictures as you want and a notebook to take notes and any questions you have.
Michelle recieved her bachelor's in Landscape Architecture from Washington State University. After taking on a senior project with Permaculture as an emphasis, she never looked back to tradional design. She now works as a landscape designer with emphasis in native landscapes, edibles, Permaculture design and educating the public in sustainable design. Her company Edge + Element Design focuses on getting the most out of spaces, uses sustainable materials and making the world a better place.

Please give a $ 5 (or more) donation for the instructor

The total material cost come to ~ $150 for the 2x6 setup for 20 plantation, a little less for a 1'x6' which holds 10 plants. If you don't want to build your own system, Michelle will install and get it running for you for $ 100. (you get the material). If you want Michelle to pick up and delivery the material in the south bay area would probably be $50, more, if further away.  Technical support after that would be $50 per trip out, free if through phone or email.
