Free Concert: METROPOLITAN ORCHESTRA @ Montgomery College (Pho 75 before!?)

  • Mar 11, 2014 · 7:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

In the spirit of Montgomery College's mission—endless possibilities—our vision is to grow Orchestras @ Montgomery College to regional prominence by attracting individuals who desire to make music at the highest possible artistic level. The ensembles create individual and collective opportunities for musicians to make music and enrich the college and community with outstanding performances.

The Metropolitan Orchestra is the orchestra of Montgomery College. It is a volunteer orchestra open to student and community musicians. Auditions are held to maintain the highest level of musicianship possible and will also serve the purpose of placement. Rehearsals are held Monday evenings, and four

performances are held each season.

The Metropolitan Camerata is a chamber group of Metropolitan Orchestra musicians dedicated to the performance of chamber orchestra and chamber ensemble music.

[masked] Metropolitan Orchestra &

Metropolitan Camerata Season

Tuesday, March 11, 2014 - Robert E. Parilla Performing Arts Center - 7:30 p.m.

Piazzolla: Oblivion & Calambre

Glass: Facades

Villa-Lobos: Ciranda das sete notas (Jeff Ward, bassoon)

Hindemith: Trauermusik (Maria Montaño, viola)

Mozart: Eine kleine Nachtmusik

If anyone would like to join me for a bite before the concert, I was going to suggest Pho 75 @ 771 Hungerford Drive which is very close to MC.  Pho is a satisfying, cheap and quick meal (usually a Vietnamese fragrant beef-base & rice noodle soup)--and Pho 75 in particular has some good reviews on Yelp and Urban Spoon.  I will plan to arrive around 6:15p and everyone can arrive & order at their leisure rather than waiting for the entire group (sorry, casual dining at its best!).  This restaurant takes cash only.

All aboard, Mates!
