Kayak Trip Through Galveston Island State Park

This event s being hosted by one of our members, Rosemary.

$50 per person for a 4-hour kayak adventure ($25, if you use your own equipment). Instruction and all gear is included. The Galveston Island State Park offers paddlers access to one of Galveston’s premier ecological and historical jewels. Witness herons and pelicans flying overhead, travel back in time to when the Karankawas made Galveston Island their winter home, and discover how restoration scientists have restored wetlands and fisheries. This 1,200-acre state park hosts many examples of barrier island habitats explored easily from the beach or by walking trails. To register, log-on on to: www.artistboat.org

Good turn out on a gorgeous Sunday morning. Meeting a couple of enthusiastic TOWN kayakers saved the day! Thought our Artist Boat guides were ill-prepared by not knowing the shallow water conditions and how that would impact the mapped route. Thanks Rosemary for organizing.

Ladies, Thanks for wanting to participate in this event! Maybe I can help you get registered. Go to the website: www.artistboat.org
When it opens up, click on "Public Kayak Tours" up at the top of the page. This will open up a new page. Scroll down to just below the red lettering and click on "Register Now for a Public Kayak Adventure". This will open up their current schedule. Go down to "May 5" and click on "Register" way over on the Right side. Your selection will open up the registration form. Fill it out with your own personal information. Disregard that it refers to a group. This way you will get any updates and final information that they send out into your own email or cell phone. Be sure and read the info towards the bottom and click on the "Accept" box before submitting. Hope this helps! If you need any further help, just pop me an email. Oh, and be sure to choose whether you will be using their equipment ($50) or your own equipment ($25). I'm signed up... See Y'all there!!!

When you say "all gear is included" does that mean the kayak too? Can I bring a friend?

This is a public event, anyone can register... No problem. And, yes, they provide the 2-person boat, a PFD, and paddle. You will just need to bring yourself a small cooler with drinks/snacks while you're out on the water, sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses (w/floating leash).

    Hi Rosemary,
Went to register online with ArtistBoat.org. As their form asked for the main contact person for our group and then a lot of your personal info I realized I could not continue with my registration. Please advise me how to best register and pay for this event. Thank you.

I am trying to register for this on the artist kayak site and it is asking for a group name. Do I put my own name or use TOWN Houston?
