I need my "Santa Barbara" fix. This is one of my favorite hikes and it's a fabulous time of year to do it!

Join us for a beautiful Santa Barbara 11 mile loop hike!
This hike would be considered strenuous by most. The roundtrip is about 11 miles with an elevation gain of about 3,000 feet.

Make sure you know your hiking ability before you sign up. This is a strenuous hike.

The trail starts in a beautiful Montecito neighborhood and then winds past a series of narrows formed by a thick layer of Matilija Sandstone. We'll find an 80' waterfall at the upper end of this canyon section. I plan on hiking up to Camino Cielo Road to enjoy a panoramic view of the ocean and canyons behind the road.

Testimonials from a previous hike here: http://www.meetup.com ...

I've done this hike many times and am amazed at the view from the top.

Dogs on leashes are welcome, but please please bring enough water for your precious pet. It can get very dry and hot on this trail. I don't know exactly what the weather will be like that day.

I encourage anyone to hike this who would enjoy a good workout and some beautiful scenery.

Anyone who is interested in joining me for a great lunch at the local eatery down the road is welcome. I'll be getting my lunch right after the hike.

Be sure to bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and snacks.

Directions to the trailhead.

Take the 101 freeway to Montecito near Santa Barbara. Exit at San Ysidro Road. Turn north going toward the mountains and continue on it about a mile to East Valley Road. Turn right on East Valley and go 0.9 miles to Park
Lane. Turn left onto Park Lane. Then bear left on to East Mountain Drive and go to the end of the block. The trailhead is marked. Parking is available on the road.

I am a volunteer (i.e. not liable for the group). Safety is a priority for everyone in the group. Think of this as hiking with a group of friends.
