Distance: 8 miles, single track and fire roads

Elevation gain: 1500 ft.

Eagle Rock, located in Topanga SP, is the secondary attraction of this hike. It juts impressively out from the hillside, with dramatic shear cliffs on three sides. There is easy access to the top of Eagle Rock from the trail. The usual route to Eagle Rock is via Topanga SP, but that would be too short for our group as we’re a bit more adventurous. This hike starts from the Marvin Braude Mulholland Gateway Park at the south end of Reseda Blvd. Upon reaching Dirt Mulholland we'll take a left (west) and then after a half mile take the Bent Arrow Trail. The Bent Arrow Trail ends at the Temescal Fire Road. Almost directly across Temescal is the Garapito Trail which we'll take through the canyon and up to Eagle Rock. The return route is almost entirely fire roads.

Bring ample supplies of liquid refreshment, snacks, pizza, 6 ft subs, sunscreen and dress accordingly depending on the weather conditions. Unfortunately dogs are not allowed in state parks.

Marvin Braude Mulholland Gateway Park is located on the southern end of Reseda Blvd. in Tarzana, 3.2 miles south of the Ventura Fwy. The park and parking are at the end of Reseda Blvd. Please allow extra time to walk to the southern end of Reseda and meet near the bathroom.

(It's further South than this) (
