Want to cool off and have a good time?
Join us for a full moon hike at the Parker Mesa Overlook. This is a great hike that usually includes conversations (because you can walk and talk on this one!) and a good time!
Bring food, goodies, and your favorite beverage to share.
We will leave at 6:00 pm. If you arrive after 6:00 pm you can meet us at the Overlook. Please bring a headlamp or flashlight for the return trip.
It's usually so well lit though that we don't need any extra lighting though.
This is just in case. This is a moderate hike.
The first section of the trail meanders through a lovely oak grove with lush green grass. Above Trippet Ranch, the trail traverses the ridgeline between Topanga and Santa Ynez Canyons, with views of giant sandstone slabs and the ocean peaking out between the folds of the mountains.
IMPORTANT Since I limit the number of participants, please do not RSVP "Yes" unless you mean it. If a waitlist develops, please give those on the waitlist the courtesy of changing your RSVP from "Yes" to "No" as soon as your plans change.
The hike is 6 miles round trip with a 500' net elevation gain. Active beginners should do ok. What to Bring: It may be a bit windy/cold by the ocean, so wear a jacket/coat. I also stick a pair of gloves in my pocket just in case it's that nippy.
DIRECTIONS:From the Ventura Freeway (101), exit at Topanga Canyon Boulevard, drive south over the crest of the mountains and proceed three miles to Entrada Road (not Entrado!) and turn left. Keep to the left at every opportunity until you reach the park's main parking lot (about one mile)
From Pacific Coast Highway, travel north on Topanga Canyon Boulevard, pass the post office at the center of "town," then turn right on Entrada Road. Keep to the left at every opportunity until you reach the park's main parking lot (about one mile).
Parking is $10.00 (exact change) in Park. There is some street parking (free) outside of the park on the road.
Rain cancels the hike.
