Get ready for New Year's eve by hiking a challenging one with a fun group!
If the group keeps a steady pace, we should be done around 3pm at the latest. Plenty of time to get ready for the evening's festivities!
This is a great hike on trails and fire roads in mountainous terrain with spectacular ocean and valley views.
Our 14 mile hike begins at the Backbone Trailhead on Malibu Canyon and proceeds along the southern rim of Malibu Creek State Park.
See trail route:
This is definitely an intermediate/advanced hike due to mileage and elevation gain of about 2600 ft.
Bring at least 3 liters of water, food, camera.
Directions to the trailhead:
From the 101: Get off at the Las Virgenes exit and go south approximately 5 miles to the trailhead parking lot just past Piuma Rd. Turn right into parking lot. (Las Virgenes Rd becomes Malibu Canyon Rd at Piuma)
