I'm a bit warm out here in the Valley and want to cool off when I can. This is the perfect way to get exercise and stay cool!
A walk along the beach. Yes, seriously, a walk along the beach.
Distance: about a 6 mile cool, breezy, sand on the toes squishy hike north along Zuma beach and back.
Elevation Gain: 0 ft. Yes, you read that correctly. We're not going to climb anything today. It's kick back and glide next to the ocean while you're walking, talking, and having a cool great time.
What to Bring: bare feet, water, snack, camera, sunscreen, hat, frolicking good nature. Maybe wear a bathing suit under walking clothes if you decide to take a dip.
Sorry NO DOGS allowed on this beach.
Directions: Parking is $10.00. From Santa Monica follow Pacific Coast Highway 18-miles west to Westward Beach Road. Turn left toward the ocean, go beyond the fee collection station to the very end of the road. Free parking along the road before the parking lot or park in the lot. We'll meet in the parking lot.
From the 101-Freeway, exit at Kanan Road, follow it south 12-miles to Pacific Coast Highway, then turn right. Continue driving on PCH until you reach Westward Beach Road. Turn left and look for parking on the road or in the parking lot at the very end of this road.
There are free parking areas if you can find a spot before this lot, but we will be waiting in the parking lot at the very end of Westward Beach Road.
