Let's beat the heat with one of my favorite hikes.

The hike will start at 8:30 am and we'll go up to Point Mugu Peak where there are wonderful views of the Pacific coastline.

We'll make a big loop back to the parking area. The total distance is about 8 miles. Perfect for a Saturday morning hike.

Elevation gain is about 1500ft.

I estimate that the hike will take about 4 hours.

No Dogs Allowed
Please bring for the hike: 2 to 3 liters of water, sunscreen, snacks, hat and appropriate clothing for morning hiking.

Directions to the Ray Miller Overlook Trailhead.

To get to Ray Miller Trailhead drive west on the Pacific Coast Highway, 22 miles from Malibu Canyon Road to La Jolla Canyon. Those coming from the Ventura area, will find it 4 miles beyond Las Posas Road. It is located across PCH from the western end of Thornhill Broom State Beach. If you park in the lot, a fee is charged, so stop at the sign. Drive about 400 yards up the canyon and park in a paved lot on the left. Parking is also available for free on PCH. Water is available in the picnic/parking area; restrooms are just a few yards up the trail.
