  • Topanga Ridge Trail to Stunt High Trail(Calabasas) 7.5 Mi Loop

    Stunt Road Trailhead(1.0 Mile Marker)

    $1.00

Staying local for the Thanksgiving Holiday? Let's hike! I am grateful this trail was spared during the Woolsey Fire. PLEASE Note: some rock scrambling! Also--if you have a fear of heights this hike may not be the hike for you. We will climb up the Topanga Ridge Trail to the top of Stunt Road via a steep ridgeline trail with steep drops on either side. If you have a fear of falling, climbing, or heights, this is probably not the hike for you. There are great views of the San Fernando Valley and the surrounding area. Once at the top on Stunt Road you can also see the ocean. We'll loop back around on the Stunt High trail traversing near the creek and through some shaded areas. It's an interesting and beautiful hike(my humble opinion). Miles: Approximately 7.5 Elevation gain: 1800 Ft. Difficulty: Moderately strenuous because of the required rock scrambling. You must be able to climb steep, rocky and/or loose slopes. For a full description read the excerpt in the book, "Afoot and Afield," by Jerry Schad. http://books.google.com/books?id=xI7pC9RIGCMC&pg=PA128&lpg=PA128&dq=topanga+ridge#PPA129,M1 Directions from 101 Exit Topanga Canyon Blvd (south) and go 1.6 miles. Turn right on Mullholland Drive and go 0.6 miles. Turn left on Mullholland Hwy and go 5.3 miles. Turn left on Stunt Road and go one mile to turn-out. Park on the right hand side of Stunt Road. The parking lot is immediately past the 1.00 Mile Marker. The parking lot is on the right-hand side of the road(if you follow the directions above.) The trailhead is back 100 ft. on the opposite side of the road - you'll see it when you get out of your car. If the lot is full, there are other spots along Stunt Road close to the lot where you can park. Carpooling is recommended as parking may be limited. Bring at least 2 liters of water, snacks, cameras. No dogs allowed on this hike because of the rock scrambling. No plus 1s. Each hiker needs to sign in if attending this hike. Rain cancels. Please sign up for this hike only if you are confident in your own hiking ability and know you can do a hike of this nature. I am a volunteer (i.e. not liable for the group).
