  • Serverless computing is certainly a hot topic these days.  Starting with AWS Lambda in late 2014, all major cloud providers now offer some kind of ‘pay as you go’ function execution platform with Microsoft announcing Azure Functions at the //Build/ conference in early 2015.  Customers are adopting serverless to save money and to increase developer productivity.  In this session, we will take a look at serverless computing on Microsoft Azure from a developer’s point of view.  Among the questions answered are: “what is serverless?”, “why should I care?”, and “how can I get started?”  Also in this session, we will look at how to use different languages (C#, F#, JavaScript, and Python) together to build an application.

    Speaker: Jamie Dixon
Jamie Dixon has been writing code for as long as he can remember and has been getting paid to do it since 1995.  An aspiring polyglot, he spends his time using F#, C#, JavaScript, Python and R – depending on the job at hand.  He has a passion for discovering overlooked gems in data sets and merging software engineering techniques to scientific computing.

Jamie has a BSCS from American University and a Masters in Public Health from the University Of Michigan.  He is a Microsoft MVP and is the author of Mastering .NET Machine Learning.  He can be found on Twitter @jamie_dixon.
