Welcome to TULARIVA--Tuesday Los Angeles River Art. We are a group of artists who paint in different locations along the Los Angeles River each Tuesday. We have a TULARIVA Facebook site that announces the weekly locations with directions. I will use Meetup to post new weekly locations. Many members have painted scenes of the 6th Street Bridge and entered a special art show highlighting the 6th Street Bridge prior to its being torn down. In addition Mark Hafeman has produced a YouTube video on TULARIVA and the future of the Los Angeles River: https://youtu.be/7w_eRe-QsBI
WHO SHOULD JOIN: Anybody who is interested in Plein Air Art, joining a group of artists who can provide support, offer guidance, critiques and advice. Somebody interested in creating art and/or photographs on the Los Angeles River.
WHY SHOULD MEMBERS JOIN: To have the support of an on-going group. have the security of painting with other people, enjoy painting outdoors, enjoy painting urban and rural scenes, enjoy painting landscapes with ducks, geese and other water fowl. In addition the group will allow artists to make friendships, have ongoing relationships and offer support to others.
WHAT CAN MEMBERS EXPECT OUT OF THE GROUP: Members can expect to share their experience as artists, have the support of others, mastermind solutions to problems, use a number of artistic techniques including watercolor, oil, pencil, pens and photography.
COMMUNITY: Relationships will be deepened through sharing of ideas, feelings, viewpoints and supporting each other on an ongoing basis. In addition it will allow artists to paint areas they otherwise would not know about or would not want to paint on their own without the support of other group members.
The purpose of TULARIVA--Tuesday Los Angeles River Art is to allow a group of Plein Air Artists to meet each Tuesday at a different location along the Los Angeles River each Tuesday and make original paintings in Oil, watercolor or original sketches in pencil, charcoal, pen, ink or marker. In addition, photographers are invited to attend. Meeting as a group of artists we can encourage each other in our craft, find opportunities for shows and increase our profile in the community. We can also connect, make friends, offer advice and help each other.
