We have lots of events for families and folks of all ages at the Library! Some of our offerings include monthly Tabletop Game Nights, inspired by Wil Wheaton's web show TableTop ( http://geekandsundry.com/shows/tabletop/ ) and our own love of playing games, as well as movie showings and music events!

First Day of Summer Reading

Kids, Summer Reading is coming! Drop by any Johnson County Library starting May 20 to pick up your free book while supplies last. You can also pick up your Summer Reading log to track your summer reads, or check back here soon to print one out at home. A Universe of Stories at Johnson County Library celebrates space exploration with authors, presenter, specialists, illustrators, astronomers and astronauts. Movie and Music in the Park

Electric Park

Grab a blanket, pack a picnic and get your music on with great local music and box office hits. Movies start at dusk - join us earlier for music and fun. Flight of the Navigator will be shown at Electric Park, Lenexa. Festivities start at 6 pm. Musical guests Stage 5 Clinger begins at 7:45 pm; movie begins at dusk. Flight of the Navigator – Rated PG, 1986: A boy is knocked unconscious and awakens eight years later. Joey Cramer, Veronica Cartwright, Cliff De Young, Sarah Jessica Parker. Presented in partnership with City of Lenexa's Parks & Recreation Department.

Meet the Illustrator: Hey-Ho to Mars We’ll Go with Bob Kolar

Johnson County Library - Corinth

We’ll read Bob Kolar’s new book, Hey Ho to Mars We’ll Go. It’s based on a simple little rhyme that is about a big, complicated idea. We’ll talk about Mars and how humans might get there one day. Then we can each draw our own spaceships. Best for ages 6 and up. Presented by Bob Kolar, an author, artist, designer and teacher. He has illustrated 33 children’s books, and has written six, two of which became animated TV shows. His work also appears on toys, puzzles, clothing and other fun stuff for kids. Bob lives in Lee’s Summit with his wife Lisa. They have 3 grown children.

Play table top board games such as Settlers of Catan...

Board games have brought family and friends together for years, and we are now in a golden age of game choices! Join us for enjoyable games, meet new friends and have new adventures. You can rampage the city as a giant lizard in King of Tokyo, embark on a cross-country train trek in Ticket to Ride or save the world from deadly outbreaks in Pandemic. Bring a personal favorite to share with the group. All ages welcome.
