Eclipse Phase - Join the Firewall

Eclipse Phase is a tabletop roleplaying game of post-apocalyptic transhuman conspiracy and horror.

An "eclipse phase" is the period between when a cell is infected by a virus and when the virus appears within the cell and transforms it. During this period, the cell does not appear to be infected, but it is.

Players take part in a cross-faction secret network dubbed Firewall that is dedicated to counteracting "existential risks" — threats to the existence of transhumanity, whether they be biowar plagues, self-replicating nanoswarms, nuclear proliferation, terrorists with WMDs, net-breaking computer attacks, rogue AIs, alien encounters, or anything else that could drive an already decimated transhumanity to extinction.

--------

Dear all, I would like to start to discuss about an Eclipse Phase campaign.

I would like first to play a couple of shots just to get practice with the rules.
You can download simply the Quick Start Rules and read the first 22 pages for general info about the setting and the basic rules for playing.
https://robboyle.files.wordpress.com/2010/05/eclipsephase_quickstartrules.pdf

I'm going to print these 22 pages so we can use them as a reference for a short period. The idea then is to migrate towards the Core Rule Book that contains a lot more rules, but better reaching that level gradually. Let's see how many want to join.

The event was very nice! I was not expecting to master in this event but I found nice everyone wanted immediately to test the new system! Ready for the next event :)

Guys I tried to book but this time the Broers didn't answer! I'll be there at seven and try to block a table for 4! Neither Lucia and Natalia will come. Lucia is sick, Natalia I don't know.

Has some of you already printed the 22 pages? Have you read a bit the rules? If not don't worry, we can cover this part easily. But if you have time give a read to the background so you have an idea of which kind of character you want to play :) Remember you will be part of the Firewall, the secret organization that defend the humanity from extinction

Well she was more afraid to leave important decision to machine learning approach instead of humans! Interesting topic. But on my side, in medicine when you create a machine learning system to look inside thousand of different variables at times I can say better having the machine doh the work. They are more reliable and can find relations that just by naked eye I cannot do. And of course exist a series of computational analyses to evaluate over fitting and over training.

I agree with you (computer scientist here too) ... I just ran across it and thought it was fun for eclipse phase. Computers are bad at morality, the best they can do is imitate at this point

Thanks Rhewien. I think if no one join I'm going to move by two weeks, and organize for the next week a small course on how deal a session with improvisation, or maybe a course on how to play, so maybe we can move some new player to join :)

Ecxellent, I would even suggest removing inactive members, but that would be perhaps a little too harsh :P

Well one thing we can do is checking members are not active in the last 6 months.. but if you consider that I was the first one missing for 5 months, probably better giving them a second chance xD
