In what career field are you?

Graphic Design

What kind of job are you looking for?

Graphic Design in print or web.

When was the last time you conducted a big job search? What part do you dread most? Got any horror stories to share from past experiences?

I search every week and have had a smattering of interviews. It feels like job boards are like black holes but some of my interviews have come from jobs I've found on a job board. Explore every avenue you can when job searching - networking at job clubs, business networking, volunteering, friends, family, connect with recruiters. It's time consuming and you have to have a lot of patience. The networking I started last year is starting to payoff this year.

What about favorite job-hunting tricks? Or favorite job-hunting books/websites?

I use go2worksource, Monster, Simply Hired, Indeed and I have gotten a lot of attention with LinkedIn. Several recruiters have connected with me due to my resume. Right now I'm working on branding myself through social media like LinkedIn and my Blog. I don't know that I have any tips but remember to send a thank you note to your interviewer and try to get feedback when they select another candidate.

What do you hope to get out of Job Club?

Networking and tips on writing resumes, job leads, volunteer opportunities.

“Being in that open space of not knowing what is next, of wrapping yourself in faith, is scary. And gorgeous. And real.” Author Unknown. My inspirational saying is from the Unlost. I'm a digital artist and graphic designer.
