I teach Tai Chi and Qigong exercises from the Taijiwuxigong system, as developed and taught by Grandmaster Dr Shen Hongxun based on his extensive knowledge of Tai Chi practices from across China. In essence this is about finding balance in body and mind. Health and happiness are what we are about.
Tai Chi is a mindful form of exercise that stretches and opens the body, improves posture, and gives the body’s energy system a boost. It can help to combat sedentary lifestyles, strengthen your core, and promote overall physical and mental well-being. It benefits people of any age.

Specific mental health benefits include relief from feelings of stress, anxiety and depression, as well as tension headaches and insomnia. There is even evidence showing that people experience improved cognitive function, greater ability to multi-task and better brain health when they practice Tai Chi. There are many physical benefits to be gained, including combatting fatigue, relief from back and neck pain, and help with joint conditions as well as chronic respiratory and gastric conditions. There is an increasing body of research evidence looking at the benefits of Tai Chi and Qi Gong, and studies now show that some of the benefits more traditionally associated with higher impact exercise, such as aerobic conditioning and heart health, can also be gained from practising Tai Chi.

These are all beginners classes so all are welcome and you can join at any point.

As well as public classes I am also available to teach businesses and organisations. These days every business has a responsibility to look after the well-being of its staff, so if you run a business and would like to organise a one-off workshop or a course of lessons, then please get in touch. It is open to everyone and only costs £20.00 for the year. classes are then free and you will have access to lots of other activities including aerobics and swimming.

Employers Offer: Reduced rates on a 6 week introductory course.

Employers, have you ever thought of providing Tai Chi and Qi Gong classes as part of your range of initiatives to promote mental and physical health in the workplace? Perhaps you are a member of staff who would love to see Tai Chi and Qi Gong being provided at work. I am currently offering a reduced rate of £400 for a 6 week introductory course if you book before World Mental Health Day on October 10th. A recent report by mental health charity MIND, found that work is the biggest cause of stress in people’s lives and that poor mental health is now the No.1 reason for staff absence. One of the main reasons why people come to my classes is to get help with stress or mental health problems. This article from Harvard Medical school explains how physical therapies like Tai Chi and Qi Gong can help. The benefits for your staff will not just be about giving them a break, calming the mind and energising the body. It will be of particular help to those people who feel under stress, but do not feel that they want to discuss this with you as an employer. MIND found that although half of workers had experienced poor mental health in their current job, half of those people did not feel that this was something they wanted to discuss with their employer. Providing classes therefore gives you an opportunity to be proactive in improving the mental and physical health of those people who are struggling unseen.
