Weekly T'ai Chi Chih® class, Mondays at 5:30pm
T'ai Chi Chih®, Joy thru Movement is a modern, moving meditation practice that is simple, relatively easy to learn, and has profound benefits for the mind, body, and spirit. The purpose of TCC is to activate, circulate, and balance our intrinsic energy, called Chi or Qi, for inner peace, physical and emotional healing, and spiritual growth. This is an ongoing, all-levels class. Beginners are welcome in every class. ($10 per class.) Please note: On the first and fifth Mondays of each month, we do a silent practice by candlelight (no instruction). These monthly silent sessions allow practitioners to fully experience the meditative benefits of group TCC practice. Learn at your own pace by attending classes as often as you can and practicing as much as you are able between classes. T'ai Chi Chih is a set form, practiced the same way all over the world regardless of who is teaching. Learn at your own pace by attending practice sessions as often as you can and following along with your accredited instructor, Lisa Otero, who received her accreditation in 2000. All accredited instructors go through rigorous training and accreditation and participate in continuing education. You can attend class anywhere in the world and be assured that what is being offered is T'ai Chi Chih®. Class fee is a $10 suggested donation per class; cash or check made payable to the UUCV. Scholarships for low-income and active-duty military and veterans is available; please inquire. Questions? Call/text Lisa at[masked] To learn more about T'ai Chi Chih®, check out the official website: ( or find us on Facebook and PLEASE arrive a couple of minutes early if you are new to class so you can meet the instructor before practice begins. No special equipment necessary. Wear comfortable clothing. Some people like to practice barefoot; others prefer flexible-sole, supportive shoes; either is fine (flip-flops are not recommended.) THANK YOU! FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: What is the difficulty of T'ai Chi Chih? All classes are designed to accommodate ALL LEVELS with the option of modifying and resting anytime during the class. We encourage participants to listen to their body and do only what feels right! Please, inform your instructor prior to each class whether you have any injuries or medical conditions that may impact your practice so that proper modifications can be offered. T'ai Chi Chih can be adapted for those who prefer to do a seated practice--chairs are available--your instructor will instruct you on how to modify the practice. Do I need to register or sign up for a class? No need to register or sign up, you can simply join class whenever your schedule allows. (Members of this meetup are encouraged to RSVP and rate our classes, also post & view comments and photos.) When are classes cancelled and how do I find out? Classes are cancelled only if there is no substitute available, which is almost never the case. Any class updates/cancellations are posted on this meetup page & our local T'ai Chi Chih community Facebook page: How do I stay informed about class schedule & special events? You can subscribe to a once-a-week e-mail newsletter that will provide you with a schedule of all local classes, special events announcements, photos, and links to inspiring articles.
