Pine Grove & Ledges Trail in Octagon Shelter @ CVNP

Let's hike the Pine Grove Trail. This is a beautiful trail easy to moderate. This trail has one small flight of stairs and one small hill. This is a relatively flat trail.

Note: Both of these trails are located in the Octagon Shelter parking lot. The Octagon Shelter is located off of Truxell Rd. Turn left onto Truxell Rd. coming off of Akron-Peninsula Rd. if you are coming off of 303 East. There will be a sign that will clearly say Octagon Shelter. Drive about 2 miles on Truxell Rd. and turn left. There will be a long driveway that will lead up to the Octagon Shelter. Park at the top.

We will also hike the Ledges Trail (which can be optional). Ledges trail will take us along the ledges and to the scenic overlook. There are rocks everywhere on this trail and they can be slippery. Wear proper shoes.

We will take a break between trails to use the restroom.

The trailhead is located in the Octagon Shelter parking lot. We will meet at the top of the parking lot.

The weather for tomorrow is suppose to be very nice. We will do the Pine Grove Trail first, take a break to use the restrooms and then hike The Ledges Trail. Pine Grove is an easy-moderate trail (basically almost flat) and Ledges trail is a moderate trail (there are rocks everywhere because we are along the ledges). Wear good shoes with treads, bring water for you and your dog, and bring/wear mosquito repellant. Both trails are beautiful. See you all on Sunday.
