This Saturday, we are off to hike a familiar destination in the Superstitions - Peralta Trail to Fremont Saddle, with a close-up view of Weaver's Needle. This is a moderate hike 5 miles RT, elevation gain of 1,360 ft. Estimated hike time 3 hours.
New members are especially welcome on this hike. It's a great way to get to know the Superstitions.
Once we reach Fremont Saddle, you can return along the same trail on your own, or optionally, I will lead advanced hikers back along the Cave Trail, which adds half a mile, but offers different scenery. The Cave Trail requires route finding and scrambling skills. There is one spot with slight exposure.
Time and Place:
Saturday 3/2, 9 am, Burger King, Power Rd and US 60, SE corner
9:30 am, Peralta Trailhead
2L water per person
sunblock, hat, bandana
Dogs are OK on this trail as long as they can handle the mileage and can get along with other dogs. If you plan to return via the Cave Trail, dogs may have trouble with the steep section.
Hope you can make it.
