On Saturday 6/14, I am leading a guilt-prevention hike up Mt. Elden in Flagstaff (ahead of the annual Made In The Shade beerfest at Coconino fairgrounds).
You can think of Elden as Camelback on steroids. This is a 5 mile RT trail, with 2,300 ft elevation gain. The trail is well traveled, but steep. Views are stunning along the way and on the summit ridge. Afterwards we can either grab lunch in town or get back to the fairgrounds for beerfest.
Even if you aren't going to beerfest, you are welcome to come on the hike. If interested in the beer fest, check out http://www.azbeer.com/flagstaff.htm . Tickets go fast, so get them soon.
Meeting times: Saturday 6/14
7:30 am: Elden Trailhead, just north of the Flagstaff Mall on US89.
2L water per person
Light jacket or windbreaker
Sunblock, hat, bandana
If you want to come up just for the day, you'd have to leave very early in the morning. I'm not setting up a PHX meeting place, unless there's significant interest. I estimate you'd have to leave from our usual I-17 and Bell spot right at 5 am.
