Sunday, December 9th, I am hiking the Go John Trail in Cave Creek Regional Park. It is a loop hike with plenty of scenic views. Meet me at noon, in the parking lot near Denny's, at I-17 and Bell Rd. We will carpool to the trailhead. You can also meet us at the trailhead, estimated arrival time is 12:45 pm. There is a $6 fee per vehicle at the entrance gate.
Distance: 6 miles
Elevation Gain: 430 feet
Now, let's put "easy" into perspective. If you hike on a regular basis, it will be easy. But if you spent the last five years on the couch, then it will be difficult. You can bring dogs on this hike. The hike itself takes about 2.5 hours.
Directions to the trailhead:
- North on I-17
- Exit on Carefree Highway (route 74)
- Turn right (East) and drive 6 miles to 32nd Street
- Turn left (North) on 32nd Street and go 1.5 miles to the Cave Creek Recreation Area entrance
- Pay the entrance fee at the gate and go 1.3 miles to the Go John Trailhead
