Many operators are rolling out their first commercial 5G networks this year. In this talk Dr Klaus Moessner, from the University of Surrey's 5GIC, will provide a status update on the developments towards the roll out and availability of the next generation of cellular networks and the fact that 5G is not “yet another standard” but forms a very different communication ecosystem than previous cellular generations did. He will discuss the progress on the technology options 5G systems will include to support the range of applications from industrial communications to mobile broadband, massive device communications (IoT support) and connected autonomous systems (e.g. connected cars). His presentation will include the current state of the relevant standards and current status of plans for networks roll out
