What we're about

Having given talks for over a decade, I really enjoy giving different talks about eating and nutrition. Over the years I've taught many people really useful information and tips to help them tackle their eating habits and improve their relationship with food.
Knowledge is power, and so my aim for this Meetup is to provide people with a regular opportunity to come and learn some really useful information so that they can use the knowledge they've gained to help them with their health goals.
My talks are not just for people wanting to lose weight- they're also useful for anyone keen to learn more about the psychology of eating or healthy eating, and how to take steps to support their health and well-being by gaining a good level of knowledge about topics that particularly interest them.
All of my talks are repeated every 6-8 weeks, so if you miss one you have another opportunity to attend at a later date. I regularly add new talk topics to the ones currently on offer.
Equipped with new knowledge, this Meetup will enable individuals to take that knowledge home with them and apply it to their daily living.
With regular attendance, it's also a place to get to know other people who have similar interests and health goals.
The talks I give currently include:-
~ '20 Tips To Stop Overeating'
~ ‘Getting Food Portions Right’
~ 'Understanding Emotional Eating'
~ 'Simple Steps To More Mindful Eating'
~ 'Food & Mood'
~ 'Healthy Eating For Hectic Lives'
~ ‘Good Fats, Bad Fats’

Understanding Emotional Eating

Personality And Eating Habits

Northfield

£15.00

A key thing to consider when addressing our eating habits, whether your aim is to eat a more balanced, healthy diet or to lose weight, is personality. Everyone's different in terms of the way they think about food, how they eat food, and how they lead and manage their daily lives including preparing and eating food. It can be really helpful to be aware of our own individual differences and how to make the most of our personal strengths to enable us to set up more positive eating habits and lifestyle behaviours. If you struggle with eating a healthy, balanced diet, then this talk will help you to gain insight into how personality is a key influencer when it comes to health behaviours and eating habits, and learn how to address those aspects of our personality which might positively or negatively influence how we operate on a day to day basis- including our eating habits. Being aware of personality factors can provide us with really useful insight, and empower us to become more effective and successful at setting up healthy eating habits. Personality really does deserve some attention! My talks can accommodate up to 10 attendees. A detailed handout of the talk is provided to each attendee at the beginning of the talk, to enable you to make notes if you wish. Pens are provided, though feel free to bring your own notebook/pad and pen if you wish. Flipchart provided for our use. Water provided (you may bring your own cold drink if you wish). 20 Tips To Stop Overeating

Northfield

£15.00

This talk explores a range of factors that can cause us to overeat. It addresses the biological, psychological, social and behavioural aspects of what, why and how much we eat. Since eating behaviour is determined by our mindset, our biology, the food environment, our lifestyle and our social and cultural environment, it’s important to look at all of these factors to offer you a comprehensive insight into how to tackle overeating and to help you identify your own particular eating triggers. There are many reasons why we might overeat, and this talks looks at:- ~ The biological drives to eat ~ The link between mindset and eating ~ How lifestyle, culture and the food environment play a key role in our attitudes and behaviours in relation to eating ~ How our previous experiences with food can influence our eating habits now ~ How aspects of our personality can affect our eating habits. The talk highlights key reasons why we can develop a poor relationship with food and poor eating habits, and provides 20 tips to help you feel more in charge of food by enabling you to identify what factors determine your own eating to help you then focus on a few key strategies to tackle overeating. For more in-depth information about the specfic topics of emotional eating and mindful eating, please see my other talks 'Understanding Emotional Eating' and 'Simple Steps To More Mindful Eating'.
