Welcome Aboard! Sailing isn't all about hoisting sails and grinding winches. It can also be about hoisting a cocktail and meeting people that share your passion for sailing.
Other groups can focus on making sailing opportunities. We will focus on creating opportunities for meeting other sailors. Sailboat ownership is optional but a great attitude is mandatory.
We will have quarterly meet and greet cocktail parties and other meetups. These events are a way for skippers, crew, and potential new sailors to get acquainted.
Let's see where the winds take us...You should join us if you're looking to meet other sailors interested in day sailing, coastal cruising, and/or long distance cruising.
WARNING: No vetting or background checks of any kind, of any member of this group has ever taken place. As the organizer of this group, I take no responsibility for your safety. Skippers YOU must vette who YOU are allowing on your vessel. Potential crew members YOU must vette the skipper YOU choose to sail with and/or spend time with. Members you are responsible for your own safety. Skippers, you are responsible for your own liability protection and safety. Tampa Bay Sailing Buddies does not conduct sailing activities. If you choose to go sailing with a skipper who is a member of this group, that is between you and the skipper. If you actually are interested in going sailing, then please request to join the Meetup group for the crew of Charlie’s sailboat (Sailing Crew for the S/V Raven) Here is the link to his group's meetup page:
NOTE: Since Tampa Bay Sailing Buddies is about making friends and potentially spending time on a private yacht together, our policy requires that members use their real names as their meetup name and use clearly-recognizable, close-up actual photos of themselves as their group profile photo.
