TIME: Wednesdays 6:00 - 6:50 P.M.
INFO: Qigong (pronounced “chee gong”) is Chinese yoga and meditation that involves gentle but surprisingly effective ways of moving and caring for the mind and body. It uses low-impact exercises drawn from Daoism, Buddhism, traditional Chinese health practices, and Asian martial arts traditions. We begin with simple warm-up exercises and then do various movement forms to stretch and condition the body. The practices we do can make you sweat, but they can be also be modified and done in ways that are softer on the body. The class is appropriate both for beginners and for more experienced qigong practitioners.
Please try to arrive a few minutes early. Enter through the double doors on the south side of the main building, leave your shoes on the shelves in the entranceway, and then proceed downstairs to our practice space.
This class is led by Steven Geisz. Steve is a Certified Full Instructor in the Healing Tao qigong system of Mantak Chia, a student in the multi-year qigong-teacher-training program of Ken Cohen, and a 500-hour registered yoga teacher (RYT 500).
There is no charge for this class, but donations to the Florida Community of Mindfulness (FCM) are gratefully accepted. All are welcome, regardless of ability to contribute.
