Silent Walk & Yoga Talk
FREE PROGRAM (the park charges $2/ car for parking) Sunday mornings 8:00 Park Opens 8:05 Meet to the right of the Visitors Center, as you walk in from parking. Join us for a simple Silent Walk Meditation followed by kirtan and /or mantra chanting and short informal discussion about yoga and meditation. Meet to the right of the Visitors Center, as you walk in from the parking lot at 8:05 am (Park opens at 8:00) After a short orientation/ instruction we will walk the length of the boardwalk in silence, ending at a picnic shelter near the boat ramp. There we will finish with some mantras and brief talk about yoga and meditation. If you can walk at a moderate pace for 1/2 hour or so you can join this event with no problems.

Offering the ancient teachings of Yoga and Advaita Philosophy, through yoga classes, fundamentals of yoga courses, yoga teacher training, meditation and silent walk meditation, and Yoga Vedanta lectures.

Teachers are:

Swami Samataananda (Dattatreya):ERYT 500, YACEP, YOGA ACHARYA (master), BM, MM, has been practicing yoga since 1965, and became a yoga teacher in 1983. He has taught yoga to thousands of people of all ages and levels in India, Europe, Canada, Bahamas, and USA. He has trained yoga teachers and conducted workshops on various aspects of yoga and yoga philosophy. Founder and Program director of Stone Door Yoga Retreat in Tennessee, Dattatreya, is a direct disciple of Swami Vishnudevananda, and holds a certificate in Ayurveda, from the American Institute of Vedic Studies. Before meeting his guru, Swami Vishnudevananda, Dattatreya studied Zen Buddhism with a student of D. T. Suzuki, various styles of yoga, including Iyengar Yoga for several years, and at the Tibet Center, in New York City.Dattatreya is available for workshops on many yoga related topics, courses, yoga teacher training, and private sessions. Swami Sumitrananda:ERYT 200, BSN, CRNA, has an extensive medical background as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, has been a yoga practitioner since 1971, became a certified yoga teacher in 2002, and is now a Sadhu of Yoga and Vedanta Philosophy. She has studied Power Yoga with Brian Kest, Asthanga Yoga with Doug Swenson, and Iyengar based Vinyasa Yoga with Cyndi Lee, of Om Yoga, in New York City. She holds yoga teacher certifications from Om Yoga, International Yoga Vedanta Centers, and Stone Door Yoga Retreat.Sita Lakshmi is available for open yoga classes that conclude with pranayama, meditation, and a brief talk on Yoga or Vedanta.
