Happy new year, Tampa iOS meeter-uppers! We hope your holidays went well.

If your new year's resolution was to try something new with iOS programming (or simply to get started with iOS programming), this month's meetup topic is for you! We're going to give you an introduction to Sprite Kit, Apple's framework for developing 2-D games, and walk you through the process of building a simple iOS game.

While you're not going to come out of this session being able to write the next Star Wars: Battlefront or Fallout 4, you'll leave having been shown all sorts of game development fundamentals including:
- Drawing things onscreen
- Moving those things around
- Making the onscreen things interact with each other
- Playing music and making noise
...and we'll point you to resources where you can take what you've learned and expand on it.

You don't have to be a very experienced Swift programmer for this meetup -- if you've done a couple of iOS tutorials and can at least write a "Magic 8-ball" or "Tip calculator" app, you shouldn't have any trouble following. If you're new to Swift but have some programming experience in just about any language, whether it's Java, JavaScript, C#, Python, Ruby, or any other object-oriented programming language, you shouldn't have any trouble following the presentation. We'll make our presentation materials and code available at the end of our session...you won't leave empty-handed!

We'll have pizza at 6:30 p.m. with the presentation starting at 7:00. We hope to see you there!
