History and Background:

Its a long story, but I thought of the idea of an Adventure Club one day while hiking on the Florida Trail. The idea hit me after struggling to find a organized, and active outdoor adventure club, which I failed to find. Most of Tampa is made up of people from all over the U.S., and World. I took a few weeks to research adventure groups in the Tampa Bay area across various websites that were related to the great outdoors, but in the end didn't come up with much at the time. I decided to just throw the idea out there and create a online calendar which would allow people to join me when I hiked. A few few friends would hike with me, and then we noticed a strange thing begin to happen. The public has somehow stumbled on my calendar and decided they wanted to hike as well. With my outdoor adventure experience and seeing how Tampa Bay needed some type of organized function for adventure related activities, I decided to put my full effort into building what now is the Tampa Adventure Group or T.A.G.

With that being said I am committed to bring T.A.G. an safe and fun filled adventure group full of events My name is David, your group founder and organizer. I have experience on hundreds of miles of hiking trails, years of rock climbing, sailing the Gulf of Mexico single handed, and attended some of America's best survival schools. I have been a certified scuba diver since I was 15 and have been diving all of my life in just about any body of water. I have lived in 7 countries and 6 states, and am seasoned in travel and cultures.

After moving to Florida I realized that the state has a lot of offer those who enjoy outdoor activities and others should have the chance to explore Florida's great outdoors as well.

Important Information Below - Read Carefully!

Member Events Age and Physical Requirements:
Tampa Adventure Group events are for ages 18+ unless a parent or guardian is present. TAG also allows anyone of any status to participate in events such as single, married, widowed. We are an adventure group, and most events will require physical activity, but we don't expect members to be in perfect athletic condition. Please use sound judgment and common sense when signing up for an event and reviewing the physical extreme rating that each event has. Our main goal is to have fun, not put you through and exercise boot camp.

RVSP Rules:
The Tampa Adventure Group is strict when it comes to RSVPing for an event. Your RSVP is important whether it is a Yes, No, or Maybe. Each RSVP affects the entire list of members attending. Please RSVP with caution and read the entire event before you decide to attend.

You must be 100% sure you can attend the event before you RSVP yes. Members who RSVP yes, and do not attend could disrupt group rates and discounts, as well as slow the process of paying for events.

If you cannot make an event please let the TAG staff know as soon as possible, and change your RSVP to No so other members may attend.

Just be truthful with your RSVP and you cant go wrong, leave the rest up to the TAG staff.

Security/Protection of Members:
We all live in the 21st century, we all watch the news, and sadly bad things happen to good people.

We would like to remind everyone to just use common sense when online and around social groups/strangers in general. This is not a reason to panic or cause for alarm, safety is our number one priority for members so we just want to help.

1. Do not include any personal information on your profile such as phone numbers, email address, home address, here on meetup.com or your Tampa Adventure Group website profile.

2. Do not reply to anyone that says they are the TAG group organizer/leader unless their name is David or Stan. If in doubt call or email TAG and we can assist you. If TAG emails you it will come from david "at" tampaadventuregroup.com, meetup "at adventuregroup.com or stan "at" @tampaadventuregroup.com

3. Do not give out your full name, phone number, address, or other personal information in shouts, the message board, RSVP status's, or in emails to other members unless you know them personally.

4. Do not rely on other members for transportation, payment for events, or lodging during events, unless it has been pre-coordinated with the TAG staff, or you know the person(s).

Membership Requirements/Responsibilities:

  • Respect other members, have a good attitude, and be ready to try new things.
  • Tampa Adventure Group tries to make it extremely easy to find our events with signs, text directions, and online maps. It is your responsibility to find the local event area and I will help you via phone or email if you have trouble, if you get lost and miss the event, YOU are responsible. You should study the online maps, directions, call, or email before you leave your house.

    Member Profile Pictures:

We suggest group members to at least have their first name in their profile for all in the group to see. This makes it easier when looking for a particular member during an event.

No nude, graphic, violent, drug related or offensive pictures

    Member Behavior:

    • Mature
    • Responsible
    • Timely
    • Respectful
    • Helpful

If a TAG member is behaving in any negative manner, please bring it to the attention of a TAG staff member.

If anything or anyone makes you or any other member of the group uncomfortable for any reason, let a TAG staff member know immediately. That includes unwanted e-mails, phone calls, spamming, or letters or unwanted contact of ANY type. This is not a dating club, social dating-like activities are prohibited during TAG events.

Member that refuse to follow the simple rules or have a negative attitude will be warned, and/or removed from the group. If the case is severe the member will be reported to meetup and to proper local and federal authorities. Again TAG has a zero tolerance for harassment or negative attitudes, safety of TAG members is TAG's number 1 priority.

    Online TAG Rules:

    • We love feedback, please provide feedback via email or after events when you rate them. Feedback makes the group more enjoyable for everyone.
    • Share ideas with TAG staff members of what you would like to do, whats in your bucket list, what outdoor activities have you wish you could have tried?
    • We encourage members to tell friends, family, coworkers, and others about TAG, but acting on behalf of TAG with business's, companies, or other professional organizations without permission from TAG is against the law.
