Jeremy Rasmussen Session: Insane in the Mainframe: Taking Control of Azure Security Abstract: Everybody’s moving to the cloud these days. If you’re not already on Office365/Azure, odds are you’re considering it. But what are the security implications of doing this versus rolling your own thing on-premises? As a security consultant and architect, Jeremy set out to learn more about the Microsoft Azure security framework. After reading 700+ pages of documentation and consulting on a number of cloud security projects, he has now attained cloud enlightenment — the tl;dr version of which he’ll present in this talk. In particular, he’ll cover the following: * How Azure identity & access management work * How Azure data access control & encryption work * How Azure virtualization, isolation, firewalls, logging & monitoring work * Best practices you should take for dealing with Azure security Bio: CTO and Cybersecurity Director of Abacode, Tampa, FL Jeremy is also adjunct professor at University of South Florida and founder of the USF Whitehatters Computer Security Club (WCSC) Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), and Project Management Professional (PMP) Ayo Adegoke Session: Azure Security or ML Track Abstract: The rapid uptake of cloud and mobile technology has led to complexity, sprawl and security vulnerabilities. Organizations want to achieve the full benefits of the cloud by connecting all stakeholders. Identity and Access Management is therefore imperative for cloud adoption. Identity helps reduce IT complexity and sprawl across users, devices, applications and third parties. Legacy Identity and Access Management Offerings solve a narrower range of use cases, frequently costly, difficult to use and challenging to integrate. This presentation focuses on how modern Identity solutions, like Azure AD, provide a more robust Identity solution across the modern On-premise and/or Cloud (hybrid) Enterprise. Maybe you’ve kicked off a new Visual Studio 2017 project and enabled it for your application. But what does Application Insights really do for your application? Application Insights is Microsoft’s Application Performance Management (APM) solution for Azure hosted solutions. With Application Insights you can easily add instrumentation to your code and perform deep analysis through the Metrics Explorer and AppInsights Analytics. In this talk we will take a quick trip through the Azure Portal and see what Application Insights has to offer you as a developer or operations professional. Well look at doing a little analysis and ask some of the common questions you may have about how your app is really doing. We look at how to use Application Insights to find out what went wrong. Finally, we’ll look at how to add Application Insights to your existing applications and how to exploit the logging you already have in place.
