How long have you been interested in or studying Taoism?

I have been interested in studying Tao since the 1980s.

How did you first learn about Taoism?

Someone gave me a book in the 80s. Then in the 90s, I was formally introduced by my Chi Kung teacher.

What is presently your favorite Taoist principle or teaching?

The Platform Sutra of Hui Neng and Tao te Ching are among my favorite books. My favorite Tao principle is that we all have a true true heart and can cultivate Tao in our daily lives by reflecting on our intentions and actions.

What was your favorite Taoist principle or teaching when you first started learning about Taoism?

As a teacher, Chapter 17 of Tao te Ching spoke to me. I substituted teacher for leader, and the chapter informed my teaching practise. ("The wise teacher is the one who the students barely notice, then comes the one who is loved and adored...etc.)

Which translation of the Tao Te Ching is your favorite?

I believe that Lin Yutang's translation may approach the subtle meanings in Chinese.

The Tao is central in my life. I love joining with others guided by the Tao and growing together.
