Taoist Taiji & Wuji - 'Calm your Body-Mind-Spirit' 2 hours taught workshop £10
You are warmly invited to join our lovely community of practitioners to share practical ideas and learn about Chinese Taoist ways of being for health, wellbeing and vitality. Our weekend workshops always begin with getting to know each other through an immersive warm up dance that involves moving all of the body, breath and energy (chi) activation. We move in ways that connect us with our own bodies, each other and the space we inhabit. Our focus for this weekend will be 'Calm the Body-Mind-Spirit'. As expressions of yin / yang, taiji can be thought of as 'stillness within movement' and wuji as 'movement within stillness'. You will learn ancient practical Taoist exercises including 'standing cultivation', 'silk reeling', 'collective consciousness' and 'form and formless' that allow you to look within yourself and learn to relax even when under pressure. Many of the movements we practise are similar to the tai chi, qigong, yoga and dance you may have seen before. Within these movement forms we teach techniques for postural alignment, breath and energy work so that there is 'steam' or internal power to your movement. During breaks we often share food, and after the session we go out for a meal together - that's completely up to you. Everyone is welcome. Please arrive 10 minutes before the session and let the teacher know if you have a medical condition that effects your participation in movement work. There will be audio-visual recording during the event, let the teacher know if you do not wish your image to be shown publicly. There's a £10 donation for this two-hour workshop if it is your first time. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing and indoor footwear. Please note we may take photos or video for publicity so do let us know if you prefer not to be included. Always seek medical advice before undertaking physical activity.     What we're about

    This is a group for anyone wanting to learn the ancient arts of Taoism for personal development, health and wellbeing. Through learning the Yin and Yang Arts of Lishi, you will experience how to increase and use the natural energies of the body, known as Qi to become physically, emotionally and spiritually stronger. There are weekly classes in London as well as weekend courses and retreats which are open to everyone, no prior experience or skill level needed.
