Club Meeting/Thanksgiving Potluck
November 15, 6:00PM: Club Meeting/Thanksgiving Potluck Our next club meeting will be held on Thursday November 15th. A while back, the Tarwheels held an annual Potluck dinner in the weeks before Thanksgiving in order to enjoy each other’s company over a communal meal and to celebrate the wind down of the cycling season. Based on the success of the Potluck we held in May, we’re going to try to resurrect this fine tradition. We will meet at the usual time, 6:00PM, at the New Hope Volunteer Fire Department Station #1 at 4012 Whitfield Road in Chapel Hill. Please sign up by November 12 to let folks know what you are bringing so we get some diversity of offerings and so we have a sense of how many of you to expect. The Signup sheet is Please note that we will not be using the kitchen for cooking, so bring your contribution ready to go. You may bring your favorite libation, such as wine or beer. Volunteers for setup (starting around 5:30PM) and cleanup would be appreciated. We are hoping to have representatives of groups that have been awarded BikeFest 2018 grants to give brief presentations on their activities. This is a great opportunity to catch-up on the great work these folks are doing in our community and to check out volunteer opportunities. This year’s recipients are Triangle BikeWorks: After-school and summer cycling programs for youth of color. Bridge to Sports: Support visually impaired athletes in tandem cycling. Durham Bike Coop: Bicycle safety and security equipment for children. Bike Safety Classes Bike Safety Classes for 4th graders in Durham public schools. Hope to see you all at the meeting. Questions?
