Our base beginner ride is 10 miles, from Lewis and Clark State Park (Troutdale) to Blue Lake Park and back, following the 40-mile trail and Marine Drive. Riders can opt for a shorter ride, staying only on the trail (6 mile round trip), or a longer ride to the I-205 bridge (20 mi). We plan to have lunch at Shirley's Restaurant (28242 Historic Columbia River Highway) following the ride.
This is a self-supporting ride. Wheels roll at 10 AM from the main parking lot of Lewis and Clark State Park (1 Jordan Rd). Rest Rooms are available on site and at the turn-around point (Blue Lake Park). Coming from Portland, Take exit 18 (Lewis & Clark State Park, immediately after the Sandy River Bridge). After the exit, turn south (Left) and go under the railroad bridge. You'll see the main parking lot on the left. And a cluster of bicycles.
HELMETS ARE REQUIRED. Participants are expected to have their own supplies (water, snacks, tire repair kits) and bicycles ready to ride. Print your own cue sheet from the links below. Be prepared to navigate the route yourself or follow/accompany other riders matching your pace.
We do not do roll calls, and will not be able to keep track of everybody who is riding. However, we have a wide range of cyclists from beginners to veterans, so please make sure to partner with at least one other person who is riding at your pace. Participants are expected to obey all traffic laws while participating in this event. Participants are expected to support each other for minor repairs (flat tires). Major mechanical failures that require pickup can call Kent (but retrieval will be delayed until he completes his loop and returns to the park). CALL 911 FOR ALL CRASHES AND INJURIES REQUIRING ASSISTANCE.
THE ORGANIZERS OF THIS RIDE AND THIS MEETUP ASSUME NO LIABILITY. PARTICIPANTS RIDE AT THEIR OWN RISK.
