• All about Sourdough: A Delicious Workshop

    20 Jay St

After a few deep dives into the mushroom cultivation, mycelium as biomaterials, and foraging, let's explore the single celled fungi - yeasts! As well as their symbiotic relationships with the Lactobacillus. Join us for this fun and delicious sourdough workshop led by our fellow meetup member Laura Wooley. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Space is limited. RSVP required: https://kinvite.co/p/7TAeWQ5D =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= / What to expect... Learn the ancient, mindful, and goddam delicious science of baking sourdough bread. We'll share a loaf of fresh bread and tackle the "whys" and "hows" of sourdough, so that after just two hours, you'll be well on your way to becoming a master of lactofermentation. After you learn to grow your own starter, you'll make your own dough to take home and bake. / What to bring.... A tea towel and a bowl (we suggest at least 4 qt), or a large food container with lid to carry your dough home. To complete the sourdough baking, you will need to have access to an oven, a refrigerator, and a razor blade or exacto knife. Previous experience is not required. It's all about getting your hands dirty (or...clean indeed) and learning! / Cost.... $20 to cover the materials and organizing cost. Free for children under 12. No one is turned away for lack of funding! / About the lead facilitator Laura Wooley... Laura is an immigration lawyer and social worker by day and DIY enthusiast and baby capoeirista by night. You can read more about her experiments with cooking, building, growing, and making at www.mamootdiy.com. We look forward to growing with you! - Laura & JJ
