On route to cover more of Finland, Llewellyn Falco has agreed to facilitate a bit of techie-testing stuff to keep us all busy and educated for a evening of sauna in Jyväskylä (thank you for Flowa on the facilities!). We'll have three things to do this evening, program-wise:
1. Maaret will share her experience on taking approvals into unit testing with the surprises of conciseness with "more powerful asserts" they offer.
2. Llewellyn will share (and let us experience) what ApprovalTests are and give us hints on testing some of the more complicated stuff on unit level
3. We'll discuss on our experiences and ideas in the world of unit testing. Join us for a night of tech and testing fun. Bring your sauna gears, as we can continue the discussions up until midnight in great company! Llewellyn's description of the thing he'll share:
ApprovalTesting is a method of verification that allows programmers to work with more robust and complex objects than traditional testing. This open new methods of thinking about testing scenarios that is more natural and closer to the customer’s viewpoint. It also allows for a wide range of areas that were previous considered untestable to be easily tested. We will look at how this new way of thinking applies to the four benefits of testing ( Specification, Feedback, Regression & Granularity).
