Big Data in the Cloud - in Collaboration with Women in Big Data

RSVPs are closed

Have you ever wondered how Google Search Engine could query billions of webpages in a matter of milliseconds? What are the innovative technologies behind Amazon shopping experience? How does Microsoft software serve millions of users? One thing they have in common is the use of Cloud technology.

The rise of Cloud technology has been a crucial facilitator of Big Data adoption. Many Big Data technologies utilise distributed computing, which makes Cloud a perfect fit for solutions built on such technologies. For the scalability, flexibility and near-infinite computing power, public Cloud services, such as Amazon Web Services(AWS), Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform, enable data storage, processing & analysis at scale, and possibly at even a lower cost.

Another benefit that public cloud offers is fully-managed services, for example, fully-managed Hadoop, Spark, NoSQL and Graph databases, meaning that data engineers and scientists can now focus on the works that matter, without worrying about the underlying infrastructure and system maintenance.

This meet-up will be hosted by Cloudreach, one of the largest cloud-native solutions providers in the world. Cloudreach helps its customers transform their businesses by connecting the power of public cloud platforms to their business objectives. The event consists of two parts. In the first half, you will learn about how Cloudreach engineers use public cloud services to augment Big Data solutions; and in the second half, you will have the opportunity to have a fireside chat with female leaders working at the forefront of Big Data and AI, followed by a networking reception.

This is an event in collaboration with Women in Big Data London:

18:00 Doors open - Registration & Welcome Reception

18:30 'Using Azure QnA Bot for Natural Language Processing' Tania Ash - Cloud Architect & Idelkys Quintana- Cloud Systems Developer at Cloudreach

Big data will essentially play a crucial role in the advent of next-generation chatbots. With Microsoft Azure Technologies you can create a chatbot for a website just in 5 minutes. The key points for this talk are: what is the background for chatbot solutions, why cloud technologies are so important in this case, and how to create a simple QnA chatbot.

18:50 'Building Data Solutions in AWS' Genta Roko - Cloud Data Engineer at Cloudreach

19:10 'Architecting for Big Data in Google Cloud Platform' Yoyu - Cloud Data Architect at Cloudreach

19:30 Break - food & drinks

20:00 Panel Discussion: Women in Big Data

Kate Rosenshine - Head of Data &AI Cloud Solution Architecture, Financial Services at Microsoft

Kate currently leads the Data and AI Cloud Solution Architecture team for Financial Services at Microsoft UK, helping organizations shape their data strategies in a scalable and responsible way. Her main focus lies in the intersection between technology and business, how data can shape organizations and AI systems. Prior to joining Microsoft, she worked at start-ups where she focused on leveraging big data and behaviour analytics to augment decision making.

Kate comes from a background in scientific research, specializing in neurobiological genetic engineering. During her research, she studied the influence of genetics on behaviour and survival mechanisms.

She holds a MSc in Molecular Biology from Bar Ilan University and a MBA from Tel Aviv University.
