What we’re about
The Tech Meetup is a monthly excuse for the tech community around Scotland to network, learn and share new ideas! Come along to enjoy informative presentations from your peers, listen to exciting projects in the community and make some new connections.
No specific programming languages, technologies or disciplines are required - we believe you can learn something from anyone! No sales pitches, name badges or commitments either - everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the free pizza, drinks and talks.
The Tech Meetup is run by volunteers from the tech community in each city/region and is governed by a code of conduct. The event space, food and drinks are all kindly provided by sponsors and supporters of the meetup.
If you want to find out more about our founding community and other events, visit the Tech Meetup website (techmeetup.co.uk).

See all- Tech Meetup Glasgow - April 2024Civic House, Glasgow
Join us at Civic House, Glasgow on the first Thursday of each month for our free event featuring two talks on tech with soft drinks and pizza.
April's two talks:
✨ Speaker 1: Daniel Grant, 'Summoning AI agents to do my bidding'
AI is improving by the day, and with each subsequent step forward, my anxiety increases. What exactly does this mean for my work? My sense of purpose? For humanity?
Eager to fend off feelings of hopelessness, and to get on top of this runaway trend, I decided to teach myself AI engineering.
The talk is a whistle stop tour of the three weeks I spent learning how to leverage AI. I'll give a candid summary of the work I was able to automate, and delve into LLM landscape, orchestrating agents/workflows, prompt engineering, local models, vector embeddings, and retrieval augmented generation.
✨ Speaker 2: Lina Srebrova, 'Trending Immersive Use Cases and Opportunities in XR'
Lina Srebrova is the XR Strategist at Digitalnauts. Since joining the company in 2019, she has worked with some of the world's leading industrial organisations to help them achieve strategic business outcomes using immersive solutions across training & development, engineering, surveying, sales and marketing.
Lina is approaching XR from a business perspective, she will talk about the trending, but more importantly meaningful, use cases in the XR space, the potential of combining XR with other emerging technologies and the opportunities to get involved in the sector.

All are welcome and there is no requirement to have any level of tech knowledge or experience to attend, just a desire to learn. Come along (bring your friends), network and learn something new with us!
To make Glasgow's Tech Meetup welcoming for people joining for the first time we implement the PacMan Rule.
The rule is:
“When standing as a group of people, always leave room for 1 person to join your group.”More memorably, stand like Pac-Man! You can learn more about this here.
