  • REGEX OCTOBER! ~ Validating URLS with Regular Expressions + Casual Pub Afternoon
This event is brought to you in celebration of my very first udemy.com (http://udemy.com/regex-academy-an-introduction-to-text-parsing-sorcery) course! A totally free course in regex! To learn more check out the course teaser video on youtube below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xu7qmZsXmvg You can sign up for the course (COMPLETELY FREE) HERE (http://udemy.com/regex-academy-an-introduction-to-text-parsing-sorcery). What's the best way to spend Saturday afternoon's in October? Learning regex of course! If you always wanted to become a regex sorcerer then this is the event for you! Regex is a sub-programming language that will allow you to craft powerful search patterns utilizing what appears an almost hieroglyphic like syntax (aka pure sorcery). Read more about it on wikipedia HERE (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regular_expression). In this session I will go over some intuitive methods of crafting a regex to solve URL VALIDATION utilizing the power of look-arounds. Afterwards we will partake in a casual pub style event. Our sister group Geekalicious (https://www.meetup.com/preview/Geekalicious/events/243444689) will be there as well, so plenty of techie and geeky folk to converse with :) Don't delay RSVP today!

  • REGEX Parse-A-Thon v2.0 ~ Regular Expression Golf! ~ Validating E-mails
Come and spend a wonderful evening diving into the best thing ever created, aka REGEX! All skill levels are welcome! What is regex? Short for regular expression, a regex is a string of text that allows you to create patterns that help match, locate, and manage text. Perl (http://www.computerhope.com/jargon/p/perl.htm) is a great example of a programming language that utilizes regular expressions. However, its only one of the many places you can find regular expressions. Regular Expressions can also be used from the command line and in text editors to find text within a file. What is regex golf? It comes from code golf which is defined as a type of recreational computer programming competition in which participants strive to achieve the shortest possible source code (not to be confused with binary Sizecoding) that implements a certain algorithm. Playing code golf is known as "golf scripting". Code golf tournaments may also be named with the programming language used (for example Perl golf).
