Both. I love going out to hear live music, and I perform as well. I sing in restaurants where I live, and am also a roster artist for the Segerstrom Center for Arts in Orange County doing folk music assemblies in elementary schools, and teach music workshops and residencies to kids in schools. I teach music to children at the Idyllwild Arts Summer Program, and am a singer-songwriter.
Guitar is my main instrument. I began at age 8. I also sing and play harmonica and mandolin.
I gig throughout So. California. My "house" gigs are in Idyllwild at Cafe Aroma, the Creek House, and Idyll Awhile Wine Shoppe. I play solo, or in duos, trios, bands. I usually go by "Sandii Castleberry" but also am in an all women's band called: "Hot Flash." Last year we played (under the name: The GirlZ) at the Temecula Bluegrass Festival. I also do a tour a couple times a year and play in venues on the Central Coast, including some wineries.
I like everything, and just got back from New Orleans where I enjoyed multitude of performances of jazz, blues, R & B, funk, Zydaco, Cajun, and Folk. I perform blues, jazz standards, ballads, folk/rock, bluegrass, and my songs which are folksy, laced with jazz.
Since I live in Idyllwild, I enjoy the places in town where I play, but I am branching out now and becoming aquainted with the music scene in Temecula.
I'm a guitarist/vocalist from Idyllwild, where many artists and musicians live. I've been here for 8 years, and moved here from OC with my husband (now deceased), who was a banjo player. We use to perform together.
